Rothenburg Wine Festival Highlights🍷- Franconian Wine (🎶🎵)
The Wine Festival in Rothenburg (Wiendorf) happens each August and is a celebration of food & wine that you shouldn't miss.
In this video, we share what you can expect, along with an original song we made about the festival and Franconian wine. During the events, Rothenburg od der Tauber becomes a festive wine village (wiendorf) where you can sample food and wine from Franconia centered on growers along the Tauber and Main Rivers.

    What days were these filmed on? I am debating whether to go on a Saturday / Sunday or a Sunday / Monday. I am young and want to party so am worried it wouldn’t be as crazy fun on weekdays. Thanks

    • @Bigboytravel
      @Bigboytravel 3 дня назад

      All of the clips in this video were filmed on weekdays (monday-weds). We have gone may times on weekends and can say it is best to avoid them. 100% avoid Saturday as it'll be a pain to get into even one tent. On the weekdays, you can tent hop in the morning to experience more, and then by the mid afternoon, it will be jam-packed and wild. The more party style music starts after dinner and there is also a Wiesn after party with djs, which just opened for pre sale tickets as it sells out.

    Great video! I am a little confused on the times. For example - if I book a time of 9:30 AM is that the time for the funicular or is that the time for my salt mine tour? I asked this question in a different Facebook group and they all said that was the time for the funicular and the salt mine tour is just first come - first serve once you get to the top. However in your video you said "make you start your ascension 30 minutes before your tour time". That seems to suggest that if I booked 9:30 AM that time is for the tour and not for the funicular. Do you know for sure what the time means when you book? Is it the funicular time or the salt mine tour time? Thanks!

    • @Bigboytravel
      @Bigboytravel 4 дня назад

      @theburnetts that is the time of the mine tour, get the funicular by 9am. First come first serve isn't correct as it is often sold out on weekends and all days during the busy season. We will be back there later this month again

    • @theburnetts
      @theburnetts 4 дня назад

      @@Bigboytravel Hmmm. Ok. This is what it says on the official ticketing website when you are selecting a time: "Please note that the selected time relates to the ascent with the Salzberg funicular railway. The tours start at the "Knappenhaus" (about a 15 minute walk from the top station) and will be on a "first come - first serve" basis." That really does make it sound like if I picked 9:30 AM that is the time for me to be on the funicular not the start of the salt mine tour. But I will take it from you as you have been there and I have not! :) Thanks for the quick reply! We will be there in 3 weeks.

    • @Bigboytravel
      @Bigboytravel 4 дня назад

      When you book the last "tour time" this time of year for 16:00 it tells you to ascend 30 minutes before then. I would just plan on being all the way up at 930 (lift by 9), and worst case, it buys you some time to check out the installation and skeleton hut along the path. In the meantime time you can email their info address. It'll be two weeks before I am back again to test the real-life logistics

    This place looks absolutely gorgeous. Would you recommend just a day trip here or a two day, one night stay? I am planning on staying in the Salzburg area for four days total in July and wanted to hit this place as well as Werfen not too far away if possible before leaving to Venice. Thanks!

    • @Bigboytravel
      @Bigboytravel 6 дней назад

      @ethansmith6926 great question! Normally I would say 100% do an overnight with 2 full days, but you'll want to float it I'm a way yo also fit in Werfen. I assume Salzburg, but where else are you staying before Hallstatt and for how many nights? Possibly Vienna? Later this month we are staying in Hallstatt on the way from Vienna, leaving early to get to Hallstatt before the crowds, dropping my bags at the hotel to get some sights done and checking in to relax while the village is busier (possible boat rental after lunch booked in the monring), then more activities in the afternoon as the groups leave and have the village to myself all evening plus all the next morning continuing to Salzburg eventually on date two with no set schedule. That can be a great way to have from 20-40 hours hours to play with and you'll feel amazing after instead of annoyed. Try to do this on a weekday. Werfen is great as a day trip from Salzburg and has a more impressive ice cave. Possible to do it and then the castle in one day if you leave early and bonus points if you make the bird show. We've done the castle paired with the sound of Music meadow also but if you are super hard core you can fit in all 3 however that is stretching it quite a bit.

      @andreamly yes it is 100% doable if you are skilling the ice cave and salt mine tours. Head right to thr 5 Fingers first (2nd level of the cable car). Then once in the village you can Can buy a funicular only ticket at the salt mine visitors center withoutbhaving to do the full ticket with the salt mine tour. This is close to the Lahn bus stop and you can do round trip or just one way if you want to hike down.

The beer there was the nectar of the gods. I'm pretty fluent in German, and I ended up with a group of happy Tiroleans from Austria. It was great fun. Hello, is better to take a train from Munich to Dachau then the bus … or it is more convenient to just get an Uber from Munich and drive directly to Dachau??? Thanks love your video by the way.

    • @Bigboytravel
      @Bigboytravel Месяц назад

      Great question, but for the most part the train plus local bus is always better than an Uber. Even if they both left the area of the train station at the same time, the Uber will take the same amount of time as driving is around 45 minutes door to door. With high traffics or a road issue that can be 60-75 minutes. Plus the train option is super cheap. I'd say however if you were staging more on the outskirts of Munich or by the airport, or had some sort of a mobility issue, then a cab or Uber can make sense, just not in most cases

      @@Bigboytravel I wish we could, we planned this trip back in January ( we are kinda back packing thur several European countries) and just recently decided to add Munich to the list we were originally going to Cologne but thought about going to the CC their in Germany 🇩🇪 we didn’t want to come all the way from US and not take this opportunity so we decided to switch Cologne for Dachau because it’s closer than Berlin. • @Bigboytravel
      @Bigboytravel 29 дней назад

      From Zurich it is about a 3 hour drive door to door to Dachau but you'd be messing with delays with rental car pick up and drop off as well as parking issues. Although unorthodox, I'd suggest finding a cheap hotel in Munich to overlap your current hotel for a night and then just travel with a day pack/small overnight bag. Could leave in the evening of night 1 to then get a late diner, walk old town, stay the night, thrn morning day two go to dauchu, come back for a little more city center in munich and train back to stay in Zurich. Still only eats up about a day of the trip and probably cost 150 euros for the stay but worth it

Yes some bus or drive in from Gosau, obertraun, and bad ischl, but others are from Hallstatt and are now raising their families there. I know some of them and will be back there in a month again. It's fine if you feel it was overrated in your opinion but to say none of the businesses are owned by Ausutrians is not correct. Are there other places in Austria that you would recommend where you had good experiences?

    Unfortunately The Sound Of Music Meadow where Do Re Mi was filmed is currently inaccessible. I was there a month ago and you can't get up there. The footpath is closed. I've made a video about it. Very disappointing, considering next year is the 60th Anniversary of the release. There is also no sign as to when it will be open again.

      The trail is fully open again. There had been construction on thr first segment since February and the an alternative path, however, the labeling/signs were not good. The project was completed as planned by the end of June and the trail just fully reopened again

    I hated beer my entire life. For some reason Oktoberfest still was incredibly appealing. I had Augustiner and it was world changing.
